BFBC2 MP Demo Out Now!

BFBC2 Multiplayer Demo on the PSN right now!




When the PSN Store updates this week (either very late on Thursday night, or early Friday morning) there'll be a treat waiting for you: a multiplayer demo for Battlefield Bad Company 2 that will run until February 25. I'm hoping every AUFer will download it and at least give it a try!

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 console demo will feature Port Valdez, a new vehicle focused map where up to 24 players will compete against each other as either the US or Russian armies in the game's Rush multiplayer mode. Players will have access to five land and three air vehicles where the Russian side can use everything in their arsenal including Main Battle Tanks as well as the fast-moving Quad Bikes and Mobile Armored AA. The fight will also be packed with plenty of infantry combat fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains.

What to expect
BFBC2 controls a little differently to MW2: the weapons feel heavier and you can't turn quite as quickly. Coming directly from MW2 it takes probably 15 minutes before you adjust to the heavier controls. Don't worry, it's nothing like Killzone 2, and once you've adjusted they feel great

Also, unlike MW2 in BFBC2 you can't win a game singlehandedly, so running headfirst into combat will just get you killed. It's all about working closely with your squadmates as a team, so make sure you squad up with AUF guys! Seriously, playing with AUFers (especially if you have mics) changes the game dramatically, so make sure you give it a go. Many of your habits from MW2 will work against you in BFBC2, so it's just a matter of not giving up immediately, but instead getting your head around the different approach required in BFBC2. Once that happens hopefully you'll love it as much as I do.

It's no secret that I want to have this game's babies... but I'm bitterly disappointed to say that I'm heading up the coast for 2 weeks right as the demo is released, so won't be around for the entire first 2 weeks of the demo However there are a whole bunch of AUF guys who spent plenty of time in the Beta, so if you have questions, want some advice, or just want to squad up with guys who already know what they're doing, hit up these guys in particular:

I have high hopes that when this game is released on March 4, there'll be a whole bunch of AUFers picking it up...

I'll be downloading it, but my in-laws are staying with us for a few weeks..... pretty much getting off the plane in about 40mins I dunno I'll be playing much PS3 after today. sigh.. they dunno how long they're staying

yeah youve got me hyped for this one stiff, ive been watching a few vids on youtube here and there and it looks sick. i didnt like bf1943 much but i think after putting a bit of time into bfbc2 it would really be worthwhile.

I remember in Bad Company 1 there was a single player mission where you started right next to a meticulously modelled Blackhawk helicopter (right down to warning stickers on the outside, etc.). The first thing I did was try to jump into it, but no matter how many times I walked around that thing, there sadly was no way to get in. It was such a prick tease!

Finally we get a working Blackhawk! I hear the choppers are pretty hard to fly though, don't be surprised in the first week of the demo if you see a constant stream of choppers flying upside down, crashing into buildings

if its anything like in BC1 flying the choppers shouldnt be hard. but if u mean they completely changed the physics and controls of the choppers in BC2 then... I guess practice is the only way to get skilled with the choppers (again).

I haven't tried it yet, just going by what people on the net are saying. Maybe they're just unco, I don't know

One other thing about the demo when you get it: if you have a serious sound system, make sure to set the audio to the "War Tapes" setting rather than "HiFi". The audio in this game is godly as it, but War Tapes just makes it even better.

There are quite a few different settings for audio (not just HiFi and War Tapes) so I think they have everyone pretty much covered, whether you're just using headphones or rocking a massive home theatre audio setup

The beauty of war tapes is just that it boosts the ambient sounds and makes the sound effects a lot punchier as you can see in that vid. It's pretty amazing and that video doesn't even show off anything other than a dude walking around firing a few guns. Where the audio really shines is when you get a mix of distant combat (far off gunfire and explosions) mixed with nearby intense combat (explosions, bullets whizzing past, etc). It just sells the setting so much. In the area of audio DICE really are leading the field at the moment.

I cant wait for this to finally be up, it has been torture the past week knowing its available on xbox. My live subscription expired last month and i couldnt bring myself to pay again for just this demo when i hardly ever play anything on xbox. Bring on Thursday
