You never know what you can find in your backyard shed. Found these old Dunlop Volleys which I haven't worn for 2 years. Don't think I'll be wearing them again, so why not capture it before they are thrown in a bin.

thats some good stuff youve been posting up recently Quicky, 10/10 for all of them id say. i havent had the time to use my camera lately, i feel kinda guilty just having it sit there. once i get all my obligations out the way i should be able to have some quality time with the dslr, til then im just gonna sit here and push pencils.

Yeah dude. But remember to get quality shots you gotta practice! Like that shot above was the first I had ever did and it took me ages to get the right focus, color and amount of light. But now I know what to do next time I do a similar shot. So next time you use your DSLR, spent a reasonable amount of time with it! Also, understand your camera and the functions and buttons. But I know you've only had your camera for a little bit.

I'm actually in a hunt and also saving up for a new DSLR. I'm looking at the D90 because it is in my price range and could get it in the next couple of months with my next pay. But also considering the D300s which is at an extra $1,000, which I will have to wait about a year to save up for.

This 'entry-level' DSLR is just not doing me anymore as a main camera and need someone with better ISO and AF-Metering (More AF points).

Damn this hobby is expensive.

yeah the D90s are a good deal if youre in need of an upgrade, ive seen them decreasing in price across all stores lately. as for me, i dont ever see myself upgrading.

My first entry in to this topic!! Woohoo!

Went to the Heavelsville Sanctuary on the weekend. Here are some of the shots I thought came out alright. I had one of those 300mm lens with me but no tripod (not that I would have used it) so most of the shots came out blurry unfortunately....

My favorite is the Emu shot.

2nd will have to be my favourite, also.

Just some suggestions - On the 2nd shot, maybe you had the F-stop a bit too high. I would rather have captured the whole emu and not the edges of it out of focus.

Also, these are wildlife shots and so I guess they are gonna be moving around the joint alot! So maybe boost up your ISO too 400 or so which will allow you to have a faster shutter speed giving you clearer shots.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to do some photography in the past but never got into it (Although I still enjoy it). I normally have the camera set on Shutter Priority setting and work from there. ISO...normally set on 400 but if Shutter speed can't cope I set it on 800. Grain is an issue on higher ISO though.

I always get confused with Aperture and Shutter difference. So If I wanted to get all of the Emu and using Shutter Priority then what should I have done??

Use Aperture-Priority mode.

another thread revival...

umm it's been a while since anyone's posted any their shots, and that kinda makes me a bit sad inside. about a week ago i remembered something that TQR brought up in this thread regarding the 365 project. well i've decided to take up the challenge to get to know my camera a bit better and these are the last 4 photos from it. i'm almost a week in now

yeah i had the thought of setting up a photoblog in mind, but at this point in time i don't have enough time to post photos as regularly as i'd like to for a photo blog

. it would make it a tonne easier if you could host cheeky, thanks for the offer, it means a lot. but i think i'd have to build up a bit of a collection before i can make a half decent photo blog.

btw, that first picture of the bubble never ceases to amaze me, man. even more impressive knowing that was taken on a point and shoot. some real impressive stuff.

thanks mate... i got a real "getty images" type one of my niece running in the background naked in one shot (she's a toddler), just her and her naked bum showing through the bubble... was wicked, but my sister (her mum) won't let me post it online for fear of kiddie fiddlers.

as you can see from my complete lack of updates, it doesn't have to be a daily thing ;-)

Great photos Karn. Love the angle on the first one! 2nd shot, maybe asjust your metering on the camera if your using auto-focus and the last you almost have it. Maybe play around with the shutter a bit more. Overall, lovin the ideas and concepts. Keep em coming!
