    Default Your top 5 bands

Post your 5 favourite bands and a link to your favourite song from each band. Maybe we can all discover some new music and maybe discover a little about each others music tastes.

    5. The Beatles - Everybody knows The Beatles, but how many of you have actually listened to a lot of their stuff? An amazing band that deserve every bit of their fame. They were so far ahead of their time and their songs are so good.

    4. Oasis - Many people only know Oasis for 2 songs, but they have 7 albums that are full of amazing tracks. Noel Gallagher is a musical genius

    3. AC/DC - What's there to be said about AC/DC that hasn't already been said?

    2. Arctic Monkeys - The boys from Sheffield are not very well known in Aus, but are a huge band in the UK. Every one of their albums are as good as the next even though the style of rock is different in every album they release.

    1. The White Stripes - Jack and Meg White, a two-piece band from Detroit play a very simple and raw, yet phenomenal style of rock which covers a lot of genres ranging from folk/country to hard rock. No digital editing is made to any of their albums. Jack White is very "old school" and likes to keep things simple.

    5. The Black Dahlia Murder. I really, really enjoy the unique style of these guys, first band shirt I ever bought and I still wear it today, full of holes and stretched to shit.

    4. System of a Down. The first heavy band I got in to, still one of my favourites.

    3. Metallica. They used to be my number one, but my tastes have changed since then.

    2. Macklemore. I've expressed my love for his music so many times.

    1. Sadistik. My favourite artist full fucking stop, someone I can listen to over and over again and it never gets old. Beautifully written.

Awesome thread Sweet! Love Beatles, ACDC and love a few White Stripes songs.

Don't hate the incoming bands please.

    5. We Came As Romans: Melodic Metalcore band from Michigan. They have two vocalists who both work incredibly well together. The clean vocalist has an amazing voice and the heavier vocalist is really easy to understand. If I ever need to get out of a bad mood, these guys will do it for me.

First 30 seconds of that video is a great example of their clean vocalist.

    4. Green Day: Grew up listening to this band and to this day I still listen to them. I don't think i'll ever get tired of them.

    3. Muse: Another band I have grown up listening to and will never stop listening to!

One of my favourite songs from Muse just due to their drummers skill and his crazy drum fills.

    2. The Amity Affliction. Australian Post Hardcore band from Gympie, Queensland. The messages behind a lot of their albums and songs are incredible.

I'll put the meaning of the above song explained by the lead vocalist (heavy vocals) in spoilers so it won't take up room.

    1. The Australian Metal kings that are Parkway Drive. I've never listened to a band as much as I have these guys. They constantly take their shows to new levels and their isn't an album that I don't like. One of the best metal bands in the world.

    1. Blink-182
Who could have guessed right?! Haha. These guys are the reason I am me today. They changed my life completely. No longer did I try to fit in by 'liking' rap and whatever else was cool at the time. It made me individual. I love their bad humour and face paced first few albums, and the lead up to the masterpiece that was their self titled album. Even to their space-rock music now, they fail to disappoint. They have the most energy onstage than any other band, even though they are hitting 40 soon, they never fail to run around, still entertain us with words like 'boobies' and gay jokes.

    2. Angels and Airwaves
Another Tom Delonge band. I got into them obviously because of Tom, but even though it is a major step away from the pop punk music Blink was making, I love them. The messages they plant within their songs, and the beautiful music that comes with makes this my second favourite band.

    3. Boxcar Racer
Again, a Tom Delonge band, but I just seem to like the type of music he likes and creates. This Alternative rock band is very influential on the music I create. The darker, heavier songs relate to a whole different part of me than the previous 2 bands.

    4. The Cure
This amazing band will always be a special part of me. I love how they can have upbeat, fast paced and happy songs like Mint Car, then meaningful slow songs that I could listen to on repeat forever like (my favourite song) A Letter to Elise. But even then have deep dark, heavy songs like the whole Pornography album, and (my second favourite Cure song) Prayers For Rain. A very diverse band that succeeds in everything they do.

    5. Mötley Crüe
This was a hard toss up between The Ramones, and Mötley Crüe, but Crüe won. The band that got me into 80's heavy rock, they are a magnificent display of talent. Mick Mars is easily my favourite guitarist of all time. Their songs drag me in and make me want to scream out singing all the time. Seeing them live was an amazing experience that I hope happens again.

Not bad Rhinox, good variety and I liked all those songs except the south african rapper dude. The Tea Party lead singer reminds me of somebody, but can't put my finger on it.

Well, I can't really chose a 5th, but my top 4 are pretty easy.

#4 .... Bon jovi. He can sing, the songs are decent and the band is tight.

#3 .... Hanz zimmer. Not a band, but his composing is amazing and I'm a bit of a sucker for a good orchestra.

#2 .... AC/DC. Tight, simple and catchy, good decent rock, they found their way to do it and stuck with it.

#1 .... Naturally 7. These guys are the most amazing live show I've ever seen. It's all acapella, but the range of styles is huge. At the moment they have been touring as Micheal Buble's openers.

couple of good ones posted by everyone else.

Way too hard cause I listen to a heap of different genres. So Ill add a few that arent necessarily my top 5 but I think should be included and havent already been mentioned in what is a great list so far.

5: Strung Out - Just straight up good solid punk rock. I wouldnt say that they are the greatest thing ever, but every album they release is super solid year after year. They continually tour and put on a awesome live show. One of few bands that I will continue to see live even though Ive seen them many times before. This was a tough one to choose between SO and guttermouth. Lots of people are gonna hate guttermouth but its just crazy, funny as fuck, fast music that makes you wanna get up and go crazy.

4: Ozomatli - Just a cool band. They mix a heap of genres which kinda reflects the band members very mixed cultural backgrounds. Cool, funky feel good music and another great live band. They had a bit of commercial succces but I rate their first album higher than their more popular stuff.

3: Johnny Cash - JC has gotta be one of the best story tellers ever! Simple, piecing, dark, gritty and timeless music.

2: Rage against the machine - Killing in the name came out when I was 10 and was #1 on the charts. There were a few bands doing the kinda rap/metal thing prior to this (eg Bodycount), but RATM were just so intense and different that they blew minds. I dont listen to them that much anymore but RATM was one of the first bands that got me into music and those funky bass lines still get me pumped.

1: Pantera - Cause you pretty much cant have a list of top bands and not include pantera, nuff said

I'll come back and add youtube clips when I get home.

Gave myself some rules. Must have more than 3 members and one of those can't be a DJ. Must like more than one song.

    1. Is Korn. The only absolute band that I will always constantly like, no phases of interest. This is the song that got me into band. The opening bass notes shook the foundations of my house and my soul when I brother played it on what was meant to subwoofers in the car, but instead his bedroom.
For years I had no clue what the song was until my sister told me with what little information I described. I missed them right through their popularity of the 90s and by the time I liked them a decade later there were already 5 albums to devour.

Now for the rest of this list it will be bands that I'm currently interested in. And whichever catches my eye on my iTunes library.

    2. Blind Guardian. Cool as shit. I especially like this song. They play with so much energy like its the last song to ever be played and it must be played damn it!

    3. Elfonia. A shortlived two album band from Mexico. Were too good and quit while they were ahead.

    4. Gazette. A J-rock band (from Japan). Some of the songs are punk which turns me off, but there's still enough songs I like to keep me going.

    5. Unexpect. Quebec must have some potent water! The bassist is the shining light in this band, easily in the top 3 of metal bassists.

    BONUS ROUND!

Saw Tool the other month so I must show one song...

And just because I've got into Rush Should have been sooner, I used to call myself a bassist.

    Why thanks Monkey brethren

I have a 35,000 track iTunes library (over 500 gb of lossless audio ) ... And have been a connessiour of rock since I was about 10 and started listening to the old mans epic vinyl collection ... And this stuff still gives me goosebumps and tweaks my nipples

Lots of honorable mentions like GnR and Beatles of course

Do they have to be bands or can they be individual artists as well?
