    I need some help from my PC wizardry friends. Went to pc yesterday morning & screens are blank. Only thing I can get to come up is the screen from Ctrl+alt+del & access task manager. I have had an error message come up for svchost.exe which in task manager shows a lot of them running.

    I have googled & tried a lot of the recommendations but nothing works, was able to get chrome open & ran windows update tool which showed errors & fixed but still nothing. Have seen a windows update file for 5:33am yesterday morning so am suspecting this May be the culprit but have also had malware bytes deleted somehow as well. I have reinstalled & run twice with no infections, have restored to a few days ago but still have black screen. My pc is a HP 64 bit running Windows 10. Any ideas?

    Do you have a graphics card or is it just the Intel graphics? Maybe try a fresh install of Windows 10? Anything saved on the HDD you need? Maybe try transfer it onto a external HDD then try a fresh Windows install.

    I am assuming just basic intel one as itís more of a business computer setup & yes has a heap of photos on that havenít been put on or back up. As screens are blank itís difficult to access stuff to transfer as itís only task manager you can see then have to highlight services, right click & open location to launch but sometimes that only lasts one click & then freezes. Is thereís way to wind back windows update?

    Yeah windows should do auto backups of points in time before it updates.

    Been on and off thinking about building my own pc and that just freaks me out more XD.

    The more and more i watch of pc builds the more im itching to try my luck in building one.
    Still very confusing trying to understand all the part names and what they do ect. My tech skills are very crapy when it comes to pcís or laptops XD owned about 2-3 laptops which normally just stop working like new or at all after 2month or so.

    Main reason for wanting to build a pc is for gaming but def a family conputer aswell, so many times my wife could use a computer but dont have one so i think it would benifit both of us instead of a console thats just for gaming n that.
    Also very interested in the vr experience i know its on ps4 but since i been thinking about pc figured it would have alot more game options to try. Still need to find one to try to see how sick i get and if i could even use one haha

    I built my PC after never having done it before. Would recommend, itís very fun and feels good that first time you turn it on and it works. But frightening when it doesnít turn on though...

    Yeah what Spud said, PC part picker is a godsend for building a PC, I spent 6 months looking at parts for mine.

    Problem was though that I looked at pre builds then thought just a bit more and I can get this, then this, then this! Before you know it youíre building a $3000 Pc lol

    Big tip is that Processor doesnt need to be an i7 or even a high end i5. In almost all cases a better GPU makes a bigger difference for the same money that they cost.

    I have been looking at building 2 gaming rigs for my kids. they will be about 1k each. At that much you will get a solid machine for a good couple of years.

    Well just tried pc part picker and stopped about halfway through coz it got over $1500 XD can you computer wizards chuck together stuff that could run this?

    Maybe the cheapest you can build and then maybe one that can play it easy but still alittle nicer on the wallet

    Here is something i info i had sent to someone else.

    CPU = 200 to 300 (can go lower i5 or even i3)
    RAM = 140 to 250 (8GB is fine 16GB luxury)
    SSD = 60 to 100 (120GB fine 250GB luxury maybe 75 for 1tb HDD as well)
    GPU = 250 to 400 (1050 Ti fine 1060 Luxury)
    Power = 100 to 150 (550w to 650w)
    Case = 70 to 150 ( Choose what you like)

    850ish low end to 1350ish

    Either should meet you requirements. i will get you some links soon. Drop your link here from Partpicker and i will have a look

    I bought a laptop a few months ago. I dont game on it but it runs Revit and architecture rendering/VR pretty well. Paid 1400 for it. I have to take it on the train the odd time, if not I wouldve went a desktop.

    Here you go. sorry been super busy and havent had a chance to send it through before now.

    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/7dfzhy

    Now some notes.
    1. Will still need a case. cost 60 to 100. buy whatever you like or use and old one
    2. Will need an Operating System. cost 150 to 200.

    Some savings can be made by,
    1. Reduce to a lower i5, i3 or pentium Processor. save 50 to 100.
    2. Reduce to 2 x 4GB of RAM. save 50 to 100
    3. Reduce to a 550w Power supply. save 5 to 10

    Recommend
    1. Maybe look at some fans depending on location and temps.
    2. If your in a dusty area get a case with filters.

    Have a look and let me know what you are thinking. PC building can be confusing and dam frustrating to start but hopefully this will help a bit.

    My General rule is i5, 16GB, SSD and as good a GPU as you can afford. nVidia 1050s and 1060s will play almost anything pretty dam well at 1080p

    Some good websites to read are.
    au.pcpartpicker.com - Building and planning
    CPUBenchmark.Net - Compare CPU, GPU performance

    Put some of your thoughts and builds into and excel and compare the cost and performance.
