Red doesnt mess up your night vision......and yellow tends to emphasise greens in what you see, cutting out a lot of the blue spectrum making things clearer....

Why do they use it though? Even when theres no night vision equipment.

I saw Doakes using the torch once on Dexter.

They're the same as professional shooters glasses but they do come down to personal preference.
I'd say they are the same as the drivers wear; it’s just a shade of yellow that makes things stand out more significantly.
I wouldn't use them but I have mates that swear that they make it easier to see what you're shooting. I have a pair of ballistic goggles with those lenses but I'd only use them in daytime with low sunlight... like a cloudy day or something.

As for the red torches... yeah we use them all the time to dull our torches and red is preferable because if you use green you can’t see the terrain on a map and if you use blue you can’t see water courses...

when the hero of the movie has a 9mm pistol then 6 guys with ak's come at him and he kills em all

also firing a deagle single handed when the recoil from the .50 would break your wrist

or in starship troopers...where they fire roughly 400 bullets then reload (half the time you don't see them reload at all) and it takes 5-6 people to kill one monster but in another scene 5 people take down about 50 (WITHOUT REALODING) and JUST make it out of the cave alve after a mini-nuke goes off

The scene in Blackhawk Down where the guy is on the back of the humvee with the .50cal. Pulls back the cocking lever and then slowly pushes it forward again. The return spring on those things is so heavy it would've damned near ripped his arm off.

Any war film in which an anti tank weapon is fired either inside a room or vehicle and no one is cooked in the back blast. Or at least ends up with their ears bleeding and no eyebrows

I haven't seen that movie in donkeys years, but aren't they mostly using M249s with box mags?

IIRC they have 2-4 between the patrol of 8, whereas the others are using m16s with m203s, i rarely saw them reload either weapon at all.

Flag waving. Of ANY kind. Sure, if it's part of the uniform, or of the scenes setting, then that's fine. But when the flag is waving majestically, framed against the sun light, and John Williams' score starts to swell and soar, pulling the tears from your eyes and contorting your face as you try to contain your grief over the realisation of what these young men sacrificed their lives and sanity for is suddenly made painfully crystal clear for you...

Haven't seen bravo 2 zero so can't confirm. Also mags tapped together grips my shit if you did it with the SLR or SA80 it just increased stoppages as the extra weight pulls down on the mag. The list unfortunately is endless

I agree, not once have I seen a mag taped together, absolutely rediculous. And also with the dropping of magazines, that annoys me to no end as the training inside me says "no!!! Mags go back into pouch or dump pouch not onto the ground"

Foxy this is to you as watching a hunting scene in a movie without anyone policing their brass...

Ohh I admit I find the taped together mags look cool but functionality says its easier and more effective to pull it out put in a pocket or pouch and get a new one

War movies need to have much attention to detail or else it becomes just an action movie rather than a war representation. To be honest I'd rather watch a ww2 movie mostly drama but still respects the true values of war and realistic than just action and people doing unrealistic stuff. It's kinda disrespectful to the image of war. Probably the only war series that I could only watch over and over again is Band of Brothers. Probably because the stories were based on real characters and situations. More meaningful because the stories were real.

I don't have a fault, but I was wondering how many you guys could find in Saving Private Ryan. Arguably the greatest movie ever. How much of it wasn't accurate?

The tigers are actually mock ups built around Russian t34's, arch enemies of ww2.

Scene in the belltower, one 30 cal machinegun has disintegrating link ( link is the belt the ammunition sits in) which actually wasn't invented until late 50's early to mid 60's.

And the movie hurt locker is notorious for modern inaccuracies

Band of brothers as Nissx used as an example, I find extremely hard to find inaccuracies

I love BoB but there are definitely inaccuracies. One especially being that, (Pvt?) Blithe, was shot in the neck in the series but he was actually shot (I believe) in the shoulder and it also says that he died due to his injuries in 1948 yet he lived on to 1960's or 80's.

It's not so much inaccuracies with the battles etc, just a lot of inaccuracy with the backstories of some of the Easy veterans.

Never watched BoB. I struggle with Americas take on history when it comes to war and the fact that they portray themselves as the Saviors of everyone.

    True

    I do love BoB though.

There is one inaccuracy in ep 4 I think, where one of the soul doers puts a round in a door and 2 bullet holes appear. That's probably just nit picking though.

Grenades that erupt into a massive fireball. Fail. Tracer rounds during the day. Tracer rounds from light arms. The friendly casualty that always manages to survive until just after the battle ends, before dying peacefully(ish). Actors that hold their firearm from the hip when clearing an area, or in the shoulder when on patrol. Firing at an enemy while running (why would you attract attention to youself when you are standing up?)
