Today fucking sucks!

Took me 3 hours to get home from a 6 hour shift because I missed my ride home. I stayed back an hour out of good will too.

Now my PS3 suddenly turns off. Try to turn it on then the light flashes yellow and back off again.

Have you googled for YLOD fixes? It's a long shot but one of the techniques might work for you.

Bad news mate, I'm not having a great one but yours sounds worse than mine.

Cheer yourself up by watching a great movie, that would be my suggestion. If not a new one, watch one of your favourites again :)

Remember EBGames take trade-ins of machines even if they are busted. Won't pay for it all, but will help.

Unlucky dude, have you got a player to watch your movies still?

Luckily I have my region-free BD player but I'm scared to touch it :(

Gonna have a sleep and then I'll be going out to see Scott Pilgrim and then to a pub and maybe a club afterwards. Hope it's the best night-out I ever have.

I've had it for 2.5 years so it was overdue for a breaking. Now I just gotta figure out how to take BFBC2 out unscratched.

Right Otis, I'm gonna walk you through this...

Firstly grab a pillow and hang it on the washing line. Now walk away.
Place one shoe inside the shower, and place a bar of soap into the shoe.
Find a lawn gnome, preferably blue hatted, and put it in your letterbox.

Get as much food out of the fridge as possible and sell it to a homeless guy this will net you $0.48

Now sell your soul on Ebay, (Not your actual soul cos thats just silly) this will get you $157.00

Get a loan from a seedy bikey gang member, or ASA, and then hog tie him and leave him on the train tracks. $150

Finally do some chores for an old lady, maybe Julia Gillard, maybe Dame Edna (Confused about the lady bit) This will get you the rest of the money you need.

Hope this helps and i hope your back online soon!

That's shit news otis mate,go out and enjoy a few cold ones.Maybe EB will take BFBC2 as a trade aswell if you tell them it's in the ps3 worth a try I guess.Don't do what I did and take to it with the claw side of a hammer I got the disc out unscathed but the ps3 was in 3 pieces lol.

I'm not too fussed about getting money from the old horse. She's given me hundreds of hours of gaming and then hundreds of hours of movies.

I'll put her down respectably with a bolt in the ol' ticker.

Sorry to hear the bad news Otis, mine died a few weeks ago & decided to try the fixes online with no luck but did find a vid on you tube to get your disc out by taking ps3 apart. Took about 15 mins & was out safely, then threw old ps3 away & bought a new 250gb. EB will trade your YLOD ps3 unless you have the original 60gb, which mine was. Best of lukc & happy purchase.

fixing it yourself is a breeze as long as you have a heat gun and soldering iron. I fixed mine in an hour following a tut and I'm fukn hopeless when it comes to stuff like that lol. but i bought a new one straight after mine YLOD cause i got sent a brand spanking new credit card that day. now I have two PS3's

The Playstation no longer sat there in the corner of the bedroom, it actually lurked. I can quite clearly remember the day on which the thing had started lurking.

did you try the EJECT and POWER ON thing to get your disk out?

sorry to hear bout it tho would be very frustrating

MannequinScreams
14-08-2010, 09:37 AM
It starts to eject then the console turns off before it has any effect.

With the new playstation will entering my psn work? I never made any backups but I'm not fussed about saves or trophies.

Locoevo
14-08-2010, 09:38 AM
yea your PSN is saved online mate so when you put in your details it should all come back except your saves. im pretty sure your trophies are still there unless you decide to change PSNs.

Bought a 250gig PS3 :)

Along with PlayTV. Sucks I have to buy a tv aerial splitter so I'm ready for GT5 and the 24 hour endurance races. Can't not have the option to pause and watch some tv during a race.

Congratzzz!!!

...have 2 TVs sitting side by side?? you wouldn't need to pause. You can play ur 24 hour race while watching all the telemarketing goodies - win win

was it playing BFBC2? cos im inclined to say that its the game not the ps3 mine has only ever frozen with that game in it so i was worried at first but since it has never frozen with any other game i'm good mine you i play that a hell of a lot more than any other game so the chances are higher

thats easy. Screw driver and hex tool. When i brought my first ps3 from Malaysia it died within 2 weeks (faulty blue ray) so i pulled the fucker apart and replaced the blue ray laser, as long as you don't expose the light sensor chip you are fine (on motherboard). it was like puting back together a small nuclear bomb. Delicate and hoping it wouldn't go off.

Nah, it's now inoperable. I ripped the blu-ray drive in half to get to the disc.
