Got a problem for the tech heads here as usual.

I have/will have 1-2 Windows PCs connected to wireless router/modem via ethernet (so wired), and a PS3 paired with it wirelessly, and an iMac also wirelessly connected. These will all be connected to the same wireless modem/router.

Questions

1. Can the PS3 talk to the iMac (something like PS3 Media Server?)
2. Can the PCs be networked or talk to the iMac in order to transfer files (music, vids, other files only...not applications)

Thanks, hopefully someone can help! :001_cool:

EDIT.... I'm reading that Medialink might be an option for question 1...

EDIT 2 ... found some info for question 2 as well...

ok, so I might have answered my own questions... :D although still need to get em to work

I have a PC, a Mac and my PS3 all connected to my router - also have iPhones and iPod shuffle wirelessly connected, and a laptop on wireless.

I use a media server on my PC though, didn't find anyon the mac as good as the PC ones back when I got the mac, and just kept it this way - am sure there would be better software now, as stiffy says.

As the guys have said all yes.

PLEX is a good media server for Mac. Its the Mac version of XMBC which is the PC version of the Xbox media centre :)

Its regarded as (as Cheeky would put it) .. the "Duck's nuts" of media server apps for mac - http://www.plexapp.com/

.. and its err.. FREE :)

Im not sure how well ps3mediaserver runs with OSX .. presumably good! .. but Plex is a pretty good solution as well.. and offers a complete user interface for a media library - including metadata for movies and posters / skins etc etc.
