View Full Version : PS3 won't eject disc

I searched through the threads but couldn't find one on this matter so apologies if there is one I missed.

But last night, was playing MW2 for a few hours on my 60gb phat PS3 and when I went to take out the disc to turn it off, the disc wouldn't eject.

It made a funny noise when I was trying to eject the disc like it was stuck and the game would not read as if the game had been ejected.

I turned it off and back on again and it reads the disc fine.

I searched google and managed to get the disc out by holding eject and power button together (force eject) or something people were describing it as.

Does anybody know what the problem is caused by? And is there something I can do to avoid this in future?

Cheers in advance.

Might be simply the eject mechanism starting to wear out?

Do you select eject from PS menu, or manually press the button?? Tried both and both won't work, or just button??

Hope so Snicks!

I tried both methods but failed until I did the force eject.

I posted a thread on the MyPS3 forums and some reckon this is how the YLOD starts? :(

I have extended warranty since purchase and my Ps3 laser died couple of years back, really don't want to be waiting 6 weeks again to get it back if it dies again

Old news darky :p

I hope for your sake disco that it doesn't lead to YLOD sounds to me like it might be just wear and tear

yeah I'm hoping so as well mate.

I've had it since release day so could be well just wear and tear and I tend to look after it too.

I'll clean the disc when I turn it on again tonight and see if that does the trick.

Mine occasionally gets discs stuck on the dust protector flap. Wasn't that was it?

Thanks for the help guys.

Not sure Otis, I can't see the disc at all when I try to eject it. I can just hear the mechanics get stuck as it tries to eject it and then it thinks the disc has been ejected and it wont read the disc.

I forced ejected it again last night to check the disc and it was spotless. I put it back in, played Mw2 for a few hours and had to force eject to get it out again :S

My ps3 does it occassionally, a knife seems to do the trick for me when it happens.

normal ejection busted? Forced ejection uses a different mechanic hence still works?? guessing
